Datart chose Virtual desktop solution by Stickfish
Prague, November 6 2008 – Stickfish, s. r. o., supplied stores of the consumer electronics chain Datartu with a terminal solution based on the Sun Ray 2 thin clients. 70 pieces were supplied as a part of the pilot project, with 700 pieces overall planned for all Czech and Slovak stores.
The Sun Ray 2 virtual displays are used at cash desks in Datartu replacing classical PCs. The solution includes certification for eight external devices, such as the register, printer, or barcode scanner. The server level part of the entire system runs in high availability mode with fail-over guarantee.
The Sun Ray 2 virtual displays feature uniquely low power consumption of mere 4 Watts as opposed to the 150 Watts of regular PCs. Price is also an important aspect, as it is 40% lower compared to desktop computers. “Another advantage of the Sun Rays is their straightforward administration and virtually zero workstation maintenance costs,” explains Stickfish CEO, Filip Korbel.
Stickfish also supplied the Sun Ray 2 machines to many other customers, including CEPS, the University of Pardubice, the Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, the Municipal Library of Prague, or the Occupational Safety Research Institute.
